Networking To Wealth ~ Steps To Build An Online Business ~ Internet Marketing




As a part of my "Back to the Basic" series. I have simplified the process of getting started into 6 steps. These are the basis to building an online presence, so one can began networking into this industry of "Internet Marketing. 

The core or foundation set within these 6 steps, will allow you to expand on each of the processes thereafter. As you become more experienced in each step. You can define and integrate more advanced or other elements that will support your business growth. I will include some of those additional support features within each step as I detail each initial basic procedure.

If you are just starting out, keep in mind that the following procedures are to get you up and running an online/internet business. Yet, remember your first keyword......BUSINESS!

Yes, this will be an actual business and should be treated as such. 


Some quick tips: Most all work and inter-actions will be over the internet/tablet and your smartphone. Ensure that you have a decent access to the internet and Wi-Fi.

Clear out an area that you can dedicate as your work space. Even better, host a separate room. This can then be classified (for tax purposes) as your office. Have on hand a reasonable amount of office supplies, pens, pencils, paper, scanner/copier, extra ink cartridges for printer. Post-It-Notes come in pretty handy if I might add.



STEP #1
Name/Brand:


Naming your business is the most crucial strategy you can impose on your business/brand. It becomes the foundation of your identity. It will associate others to you and your connections to the world in ways that can make or break your business future. What do you want to convey to the outside world about you, your product/service and company?

Naming your business, connects you to emails, social media, name recognition. It will become your brand, where others will become arise to take some kind of action to all of your online endeavors. Whether they respond to your Facebook post, a tweet, Instagram/Pinterest pictures or LinkedIn articles. All will starts with your name and logo presence.

Find Your Greatness - 100 Day ChallengeRemember, you want people that when they see your brand name/logo, something positive is the first thing that comes to their mind. Research different names, by Googling varies version. Make a list of these names. If one is taken already, try them with different domain name extension (.com, .net, .org, .gov)

Keeping the name short and unique, allows others to easily remember it. Make sure that it clearly relates to your targeted product and/or service you are offering. Place keywords if possible, within the naming. Avoid numbers & symbols. 


Keep in mind the possibility of future growth. You don't want to have to rename or re-brand down the road just because of expansion. Think about what you want your logo to reflect upon. Will it fit together.....logo & name? Check trademarked names with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, states allow you to search registered business names online as well. 

Your name should create a feeling of positivity, strength & creativity. Yes, put a little extra thought into your name & brand.



STEP #2

Website/Blog:

Now that your name is solidified. You are going to set-up accounts using this name. All emails, social media accounts that will be used to talk, write and promote your brand should incorporate this name. 

All of your efforts are to funnel your visitors, targeted audience from your media outlets to a particular point......your website or blog.

There are a few ways to go about this stage. If you are just starting out and have limited experience on computer or social media insights. I would suggest using a blog platform as your first introduction to your online presence.

Blogger and Wordpress are highly recommended and very google friendly. Yet, free to use. You can later upgrade to varies add-on as you gain followers and become comfortable with the inner workings of your blogs functions. Using your blog as your first online address (URL Uniform Resource Locator) will prepare you to the working of your website. 



 Fact is, blogs and websites, in general, encompass similar features. It's a great starter platform and as you grow, use your blog as an informational site for updates, special promotions, news and helpful tips. Blogs are more personal and are likely to be shared throughout the internet. Then build upon your website as the final step in your sales funnel campaign. This is where your clients/consumers will purchase products and services from you.

Utilizing both platforms in conjunction will greatly enhance your online presence.

Your company website, must include a homepage along side support pages. These support pages will provide information like company mission statement, contact info, company history and general information about your company.  All of which should include keyword infused words relevant to your business. 


Within the contents of your blog and website, links building or backlinks as it is called, will assist in higher ranking among search engines like Google & Bing. Which will drive traffic/potential customers to your blog and website.



STEP #3
Products/Services:

Let's be honest here, clearly,  the core reason to your "WHY" factor is you want to succeed in this industry to make MONEY! Your why, can be because you want more time with  family and friends, able to go, see places and do things on your bucket-list. Maybe you just need an extra income stream to pay for that college fund, home repairs, new house, car, motorcycle or catch up on that retirement fund that was started way to late. At the end of the day..........you want FINANCIAL SECURITY!


 #1 Landing Page Leads & Customers

Building a business that will generate the necessary income for these activities isn't just going to grow on any tree. Money, will always involve hard work, failures and risks. So prepare, never quit.......Anything worthwhile is worth the effort!

What will surely test your limits in the beginning, will be what to sell others out there that people are willing to pay for. The lane you take will be both daunting and require your deep thorough attention.

Where do you start when it seems everything is already thought of. When you have competition like Amazon & ebay. Here's a thought processed during a seminar I went to or book I read a while back. 

There is always something to sell, redesigned and make better. Even the likes of.......Simple ideas that made millions!

If you look around your house, could you redesign that trash can? Maybe you can add certain type of picturous designs. Can you design a better eating plate? Or how about a new type of cabinet handle. I hope you can get the picture.

What needs to happen is simple, find a need then fill it!

Did you know that the #1 online product sold are health & wellness related products.

How do we handle this task of finding something to sell? 

We first must understand that there are products that people use everyday or at least on a regular basis. Yet, can be brought from different companies or sources. These essential items are considered commoditized products. 

Next, we have something that maybe trending or is a specialized product or service unique to a particular industry.

Niche Marketing - Marketers will focus on campaigns that are the essentials of a specific segments or industry. By tapping into this targeted audience, one has a better chance of capitalizing on it income potential. The benefits include a narrowed marketing demographics, which leads to less marketing effort.......physically and more financially.


There is a term used among investors that goes.....The wealthy get rich by using other people's money. They have used other peoples money to purchased real estate and homes to flip. Quite frequently, using other people's money to make investments in the stock market.

However, one can begin by leveraging other people's products & services. These are what is known as Affiliate or referral marketing.

Amazon, Ebay & Walmart are just a few of the Super stores that offer affiliate/referral programs. This is an idea way to catch your footing in this industry. While you develop your own product or narrow your own niche to market in. 

My personal opinion, again, understand that this is a business. To really gain momentum, you have got to have a passion for what you do. You have to want to see any obstacle through. When one step is not producing, you must be determined to find a way to defeat that hurdle. Always go back to why you started this journey. Remember what it was that motivated you in the first place. See, if you have not reached that reason or goal. Then that "why" is still in play.


Become passion about what you are doing. Your end desire is to succeed. So, succeed! 

What are your hobbies? What skill sets have you acquired over the years? What are you TRULY passionate about? Then simply, incorporate them into your business. Keywords here is YOUR BUSINESS! When you love what you are doing, it is no longer a JOB. You jump into projects with fire. If and when issues arise, you are dedicated to solving them. 

By promoting/marketing other products from establish companies that are similar to your own business direction, you can build up to your end goal. 

Here's the thing, your best success online is to have a solid product or service to offer. Preferably something you own. That doesn't mean you can't build around it till you have all your pieces together for your very own product line.

Ever wonder why people tend to make movies, write books or make music? That's because with these types of products, you do it once and get paid multiple times. If you can come up with a niche product. One where you can target a certain demographic, all that's left is marketing it. Internet marketing from the comfort of your computer. It has been done, it can be done and it will continue to be done. Go get yours!



STEP #4
Sales Funnel/List (E-mail) Building:

Now, the meat and potatoes of any business.......consumers, customers, clients that will read your blogs, buy your products and services. 

It's called internet/online marketing for a reason. You must market to an audience that is in need of what you have to offer.




Do you think that companies that invest 30% to 50% of their revenue into advertising & marketing do so just because they want to. No, these companies have to keep their product in the public eyes. They want you to remember their brand when you see it on the shelves. Or when you are hungry, when you are looking for that new car, flat screen TV, smartphone etc,.

The channels can be as endless as they can be creative. And I find one of the pleasure of working this industry is in fact, being able to be creative in your business building ventures.

We know some marketing channels easily, we see them day in and day out. TV commercials, newspaper & magazine ads, email, pop-ups, Youtube ads. When you driving, McDonald's, Burger King, 7-Eleven signs are a plenty. 

We as independent business owners, we don't have that kind of marketing budget as the big boys. Yet, there are ways to penetrate the markets you are targeting. This channel is used in varies forms throughout the online marketing community that increase your brand recognition and allows for easy market analyzation........



SALES FUNNEL & Email List Building


List Building - is the collections of names and information of your targeted audience that creates your customer base. This is a highly recommended and effective means of lead generation for any online & offline business.

It is as important as anything you can do for your business. This is a volunteer opt-in permission based marketing strategy. It simply allow you to send information, promotional offers or followup on past inquiries. Typically, the source of communication is through e-mail address acquisition.

Email List - It is exactly as it states, a list of e-mail addresses. One can buy or rent an email list. With these I would be very careful, as these list can be old, invalid or not a targeted audience. There are good sources of companies that can provide you a decent list. The better the list, the higher the cost. Do you research first! 


Sales Funnel - You are now moving forward. You've named your biz, you have an online presence, product/services and now a list of interested and potential buyer. 


You want to now create a sales funnel. Through a specially designed path you are funneling your contacts from a visit to your blog or website. Through a series of enticing presentations that build up excitement about your company, product or service. The end result being a consumer purchasing from you. 

You send out an offer to your e-mail list. The respondents are sent to a "landing page" where they are engaged in your material. Getting them to consider your service by means of an irresistible bargain or time limited offer. Once the offer is excepted they are funneled through a check-up procedure that has your main sales offer, generally a higher ticket product or upgraded service. As you can interpret, sales funnel are guided steps to get your contact/lead to buy your offer.



STEP #5
Multiple Streams of Income:

The wealthy accumulate wealth by having their money work for them. They have multiple source of income stream from different business venture and income generating investments. As I am learning.......just D.W.W.D, Do What the Wealthy Do!





STEP #6
Duplicate:

Duplicate what works. Re-invest into your business for growth. If it isn't broke, work it! If it doesn't work, test out ways that will!

Answers To A Series Of Questions: The REAL TALK Life Of An Internet Marketer

I was recently ask a series of questions from one of my Facebook group member. He is considering Network marketing as a way to generate extra income as he faces retirement after 30 years in the workforce. 

I was humbled, when he inquired that he had read a few of my posts and articles. Feeling that I had a "wealth of knowledge" for which he could pull from.

In reflection, as I replied to him, that I have been doing this online networking for over 15+ yrs. That I am in fact, NO guru nor marketing sensation. Yet, what I can offer, are facts, hard knocked real world experiences in an industry that is some what saturated and can be misleading. Yet, one can create a worth while income if one is serious about their ultimate goal........to network using the internet to generate an extra income source.


I have also re-published a couple of articles from a few years back to include along side this post. I have title them "Back to the Basic Series" that follows. Tagged below:

Back To The Basic Series: What Is SEO.....Search Engine Optimization?


I would like to start this article with this proven reality. There are many many roads that you can and will travel down in your pursuit of  success in this industry. Whether you travel by MLM (multi-level-marketing), direct-sales and/or affiliate/referral marketing. The methods for which you will acquire your brand/name recognition,  generate leads and the product and services you choice to associate with will require effort. Nothing ever in my life have I done, wanted or that was worthwhile.......came easy or without setbacks, disappointments and failures. POINT BLANK!

This is life's law, and when it comes to money, there is plenty of it out there in the world for sure. But no-one, no-one is just going to give it to you nor will it come instantly. Keep that within your common view points as you journey along your ventures.



As you will find out as you read on, I will be honest, yet simple. In the last few years, a fav. quote of mine has been just that "simplicity is simple". As with many of life's episodes, difficulties generally become even more challenging when they are dealt with negatively or with complexity. 


"LIFE is really not that complicated (especially now, in our modern age state), humans just make it that way!"


 To start off with, my last 3-5 post/articles are re-prints from 2009 - 2011. I'm republishing them as they not only apply to my current projects, yet are taken it back to the basics. Again, keeping it simple. 


Once your foundation is secured, all other endeavors can now be built upon this infrastructure. So please indulge yourselves in my previous articles after you have read my reply to my fellow colleague.



QUESTIONS ASKED:
Who is your target market ?? How do you promote your service?? What are the most effective channels of communication?? What are your biggest challenges and your biggest success?? Would you change anything that you have , looking back ?? 


I will be as straight forward and honest..........as that would be my best advice.

Be honest, always be upfront & truthful. Because this will have a direct effect on what I feel is the most important aspect of your business/company..
........

Your name aka your "Brand"!


Below are the stages I went through in the transformation of my logo and image. I started this journey for him, my son.....my why!
(WE) would always remind me that it wasn't just about the WEalth, but WE (Him & ME!). As the times of trials and life's tribulations arose, it would also become my motivation. To never forget why I began this quest.

For me, my tactic/strategy was whether straight forward. Wehit has been in circulation for a few years now. The thought process into the name stems from people who are always interested in wealth building, health & wellness. Which is the #1 product for online marketer, plus it was actually what I started out marketing. I was with a company called "Legacy For Life" which is something like i26 now. Of course, the internet and technology is everywhere. Wealth Health & Internet Technology acronym for WE.H.I.T. Along side the fact, I wanted us (WE, my son & I) to hit it big on our own terms.

When you work as hard as you will, put in the insane amounts of time and spend the types of $$$ to acquire clients & consumer. The last thing you want, is to lose him/her over distrust.






As you've seen recently, for example, the Wynn Resorts. A very successful venture for all these years. Then wham! A bad practice, lie or of course, the mistreatment of your employee, client or customer. Everything you worked for is swept from underneath you within a blink of an eye.


For years his brand will be tarnished. (I believe they are selling the brand resorts) With the #metoo movement in full swing. Yea.....probably the best business move.


But if you were a little mom & pop business your brands reputation would be a bit more costly, even devastating.
So yes, always treat everyone you come in contact with the utmost respect. As you will see later on, longtime clients/consumer relationship may become long time friendship relationship.



The Internet can be unforgiving

When people see your name, brand, logo or anything that you are associated with. You want something "positive" to be the first thing that comes to their mind.   




I guess the next question I'll tackle real quick would be, would I change anything hindsight

You know, we all in hindsight can be assured this rosy path to our goals and successful outcome of our ventures. If only we did this or changed that. Fact is, life doesn't work like that. We live and we learn. We apply, we do and we respond to the re-actions of our actions. 

Internet marketing, just as most businesses is a funny business. When I first made the conscious decision to pursue online marketing as a way to make an income........I was working in the prison system, running a mobile D.J. business, doing music production work, on call for a moving company (Mayflower). After my daughters wedding, I found out I was going to be a dad again. (I have two older children from a previous relationship that had ended several years earlier.) 



I stayed busy......what I learn before about raising children is they grow up fast. As much as I tried to be in my two oldest life, when you looking at them at 20ish, you still question yourself. Wondering, could I have been there more? Looking at two grown people that you watched morph from tiny babies. Does a little mojo on your psyche. Knowing that I now will be going through this again, what was I going to do this time. 

I had some sales experience (Funny thing is I really didn't like sales, remember being honest) I sold computers, TV's but mainly audio equipment. Big screen TV's was the rage, bag (bricks) phones on the raise. Try convincing people to pay $1 - $3 a minute to make a phone call, where you had to be in a certain location because of limited coverage. When a phone booth call cost between 15 & 25 cents.

When I would sale audio, my main gig, due to my background in sound and recording engineering. I knew my equipment pretty well. Yet, we were trained/told to upgrade customers. I always stayed within the top 3 sales leader-board. And I didn't consider myself a salesperson. what I did was sell what people needed. I'd ask them what they plans were, how long they expected to use their equipment. Fill them in on the future of audio & video. In other words, I was educating them along the way. They became my repeat customers. 

They would even pay me to come to their homes and set up they equipment. Remember back then, you start talking about left & right channels, Dolby surround sound, center, rear speaker hook-up, syncing Dvd/laser disc players with Cd players and cassette decks to receivers. Well.......most people just want it set and play. 

What I'm getting at, when we talk about hindsight, comes from my most important quote ever. I use this a lot........
"Everything Happens for a reason

You read into the road/path ahead of you and take what was giving to you yesterday and grow with it ~ win or lose! If I was to take even a little something and changed it.......would the message/lesson afforded me or someone else, get to it's destination. Our mistakes are our life's lessons. Some of us need a few knocks to get it right, some get it right off the bat. 



As business & entrepreneurs, those mistakes and set-back are what makes you stronger and hopefully grow. I can't change anything hindsight......but I can use what I've learned yesterday to better my path tomorrow. So should you.


Pave Your Own Path
Our goals are one big picture puzzle. In our minds we see it. We can plan it out on paper for clarity. Yet, it is when we execute, fall down and get back up, when we appreciate the little gains over the huge setbacks. We put a little piece of that puzzle together. The more pieces we get to collect or learn and apply it the base of the puzzle....... the clearer that puzzle, that picture becomes.





 


Next I'll cover targeted audience, there's a couple of ways to look at this. Your audience will be determined by your product or service. It's really that simple. Once you've provide the internet a means to finding you.......website/blog. That's where you start on SEO, Search Engine Optimization. Your product/service will determine your keywords and phrases that you will use. 

As for products or services,  you may come across some that will say concentrate on one product or services. And yes, that's fine. Especially if you are new to this industry. Focus on setting up your brand and establishing SEO. But you will soon fine out.......let me use the following as an example. 

Go into any store, restaurant or shop. You will not find any of these places with just one item. You won't go into the grocery store to find just one product, into a restaurant, and only one item on the menu or at service shop, where they offer just one kind of service. 

Why then would you spend amazing amount of time and energy building on one item. You want to build for expansion. This is called multi-streams of income. The wealthy use this simple method always.




 I'm going to address the two questions on promotions & effective communication channels as one. It will be some what short and sweet. (I think) Establishing your brand, your identity online as your foundation. This will start a domino effect as you apply a multitude of strategies along the way. 


First, you will find that there will be an endless sources of marketing materials at your disposal. They will range from free to $1000s. Take your time. Because you first want to figure out what your niche or identifying trait will become. Meaning, what will people come to associate you with. 




As you pin point a direction you want to travel. Keep in mind these thoughts. This will be a long term endeavor. (This is a business, remember to build it as that) You will be able to do most of the work via internet/computer/smartphone. 

With that being said, remember you want this to be a passion not a job! So, think about the things you like, what are you comfortable with and what will you want to do consistently that you will have fun doing. Believe me, with all the time & effort necessary in putting your business all together. It is less stressful when you are happy and passionate about it's what you are doing and about it's outcome. 

What hobbies do you like, what are you interests? What are your talents, jobs skills? Apply those in your business plan! Yes, internet marketing can have a business plan, this is your future business and income stream. Business plans help you focus on the details that easily get overlooked. When you have these in place.....realize that this leads to your knowledge base. You should be a bit comfy talking, writing and promoting what you know. There is where you will find your target audience. There you will find your avenues to products and/or services to exploit. 



As for channels to market. Every place, every outlet and every medium is a potential exposure, client or sales. Money is everywhere. So you must get your brand, product and service to the masses (a narrowed target mass of course). Offline, flyers, talk about what you do to people.



Remember, you should involve yourself with products & services you are passion about. 

Things that you like, are interested in or hobbies. All you really are doing then is talking about what you love and oh by the way.......you have a product or service attached to it. 

Challenges in internet marketing are establishing your network and capturing quality leads. I said earlier, money is everywhere. Yet, people are hard pressed to come up off of it.

Simply start with what you are comfortable with in terms of the different types of services to use. Your main focus will be the use of "SALES FUNNELS", this will help build your "LIST". 

But get solid in the uses of your essentials.........websites, blogs, writing style and the use of social media outlets. Then explore paid services. You will go into them with a much better understanding of their effects and worth.



Building relationships through Network marketing
My biggest success?
.........finding and building relationships. Your business is consumer oriented. You are socializing. Make them apart of your family. On all my different media outlets, the ones that are still around. Stayed around even though they were at one point or another a client/consumer then dropped out or stop buying product. Yet, because of the relationship built, they are still in my circle today. 


I still have what are now my personal friends, that were merely online marketer back when I started. So I actually build my friendship base along the way. Some have help me deal with issues as I was raising my son solo. He's a teenager now....and trying to be a grow-up before he really is. "Sign!" And a few have been a blessing because there were times I'd be online or call and have met, talk with him. So he also knows a few of them from when he was like 5 or 6 yrs. old. 

Everything happens for a reason........Do what you love, give it 100% and it just works out in some form or another. Again, I haven't made my millions yet......but all that effort, knowledge from the past, it sure is shaping that future! Live & learn.......LIFE of an online marketer!

Back to the basic, in a series of re-prints articles from my yesteryear's as an internet marketer. I'm republishing some of the basic fundamentals of network marketing. 

There's a lot of information out there that tends to become mangled, twisted and whether confusing to those just getting into this industry. Hopeful you have read my previous article.........where you can you can get a glimpse of my back ground journey into the world of laptop/smartphone marketing as a home business.

Why my concern to back track on the simplicity?

With some 75+ million baby boomer set to retire over the course of the next 14 years. They are turning 65 years of age at a rate of 10,000 a day. Many, as the latest statistic proclaim, will not have the funds to enjoy a decent retirement. Sighting 45% have no retirement saving at all.  Boosting a near 65% having to continue working past the age of 65.

There is technology that is in place, to allow our most popular generation an opportunity to at least work from the comfort of their home after retirement. After decades of punching the clock. And setting the stage for the younger generations. It's time we bring them into the online marketing loop.

   I like you to take a moment to picture this scenario. Its Saturday afternoon, you get a called from a friend, telling you about this huge sell down at the mall. Great, you love a good deal. Problem is, they didn't tell you which store had the sell. Malls are filled with many types of stores. Which one do you go to, how will you know where to get this great sell? You walk up & down, looking at all the printed ads in the window. Hundreds of shop to choose from.

Two very important events happened here.....

   1) A friend gave you information on a sell -- Word of mouth, networking (marketing) referral marketing

   2) Now that you know about this sell, where do you go to get your deal? 



The search......! As you pass by store after store, reading the advertisements, eventually you find the right store by what you see & read on outside ads or display racks. It is this very same nature of consumer hearing, seeking out and buying a product/service in a physical store as it would be in your online store.

   The most important piece of the puzzle in internet marketing is your web presence. Your web I.D. 



Internet Marketing with Landing Pages
   The place where consumers thirsty for your information, products and/or services will visit. This also known as "Branding". You create an online brand by building a business presence. Your website will serve as your main online presence and will act as a center point for all of your online promotional efforts. Your website should be distinctive, easy to navigate, and full of useful information. 

   Think exactly what purpose you want your website to serve. Information, promotions of other businesses, hobbies etc., exactly who your website targets, should have been made little cleaner, defined with your business plan.
  
   No matter how small your company is, if you are selling products or services, it is essential to have a website to reach your customers. Websites do not cost too much to build. Consider your website as a tool for expanding your business and profit. The internet has become  inexpensive, fast and the most reliable form of communication in this hi-speed  paced world of ours. And having a website, is your store in that huge mall we talked about earlier.

 Taking your business on the internet is going to open up an entire new market for you than a physical store, simply because of the vast amount of potential customers you can reach.(one & half billion people are online across the global in 2009 to just over 4 billion user in 2018)

   Your website must allow customers to do business with you. People want to do things fast. This world is in a rush, people carry cell phones and laptops, so that they can stay connected. Your website is as powerful marketing tool as newspapers and magazines were in the past. If you want your business to go global, then you definitely need to have a marketing website.
